Myths are very important for ancient Greek men and women. They worship God and Goddess, write about their poetry, and are based on their numerous art works. Greek people are seeking help from the gods and goddesses in every aspect of their lives, including health, agriculture and war. Greek myths were created by Greek people, so people can understand Greek’s own society by reading Greek myths. The three main goddesses worshiped by the Greeks are Hera, Athena and Aphrodite.
As she was one of the three goddesses with Athena and Aphrodite, Hera participated in the beginning of the Trojan horse war. And argued that Golden Apple is “most fair”. The trial in Paris finally decides who is the most beautiful among all the goddesses, and Hera will provide Paris, wealth, power, and throne, and Prince Troy will eventually choose Aphrodite. In the generation before helping the hero of Achaean, Hera also helped Greek hero Jason by seeking gold wool. Hera provides guidance to Jason and Argonauts on his way to Colchis and also plans to let Medea fall in love with the hero and finishes his mission with Jason.
At the beginning of the Trojan horse the prince Prince Troipari was asked to determine which of the three Olympic goddesses was the most beautiful, he chose Aphrodite instead of Hera and Athena. Ararodite says that he will give him the love of the most beautiful woman in the world although both Hera and Athena want to bribe him with the emphasis. This is Helen of Sparta. Unfortunately, Helen of Spartan is married, but since Aphrodite held power, Helen of Spartan fell in love with Paris. After being with him, she became Helen of Troy. In the meantime, Hera and Athena became enemies of Troy, Aphrodite was faithful to Paris and Trojans. (Skidmore, 1)
Paris was the prince of Troy, came to Sparta at an estimated diplomatic mission, asked Helen for victory. Prior to this trip, Zeus appointed Paris to judge the most beautiful goddess, Hera, Athena, or Aphrodite. In order to win his support, Aphrodite promised Paris the world’s most beautiful woman. Influenced by Aphrodite’s proposal, Paris chose her as the most beautiful goddess and won the anger of Athena and Hera. Helen is sometimes said to be raped in Paris, but the origin of ancient Greece is often oval and inconsistent. Herodotus said that Helen was kidnapped, but Cyprus said after saying Helen, “Aphrodite has joined Queen Sparta and Prince Troy.” Sappho believes that Helen willingly will make Menelaus and his 9 year old daughter Hermione stay in Paris.
